PSYCHIATRIST
General & Addiction
Derek Blevins, MD
Dr. Blevins
MY APPROACH
I am board-certified in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, with broad experience in the treatment of mental health and substance use issues. I am a strong proponent of client-centered, evidence-based care. I believe in a multi-modal approach to mental health care that incorporates pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy with physical health and well-being.
MY PRACTICE
My practice integrates medications and psychotherapy. For clients already engaged in psychotherapy, I provide psychopharmacology consultations and/or medication management. I offer GeneSight genetic testing to help tailor psychiatric medication treatment. I do not participate in-network for any health insurance plans, but your out-of-network benefits may provide reimbursement for my services.

EXPERIENCE
I have provided both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care for a large number of patients. In addition to treating general psychiatric needs, I have had specialized training in the treatment of college/university students, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), LGBTQ+ clients, and people suffering from substance addictions. My current role as an assistant professor and research psychiatrist also provides me with cutting edge insights into psychiatric and addiction treatment, which I am able to integrate into my clinical practice.
